Kroger

Kroger:  Grocery store at Wakefield Commons in north Raleigh will be closing in July.
Kroger (NYSE: KR) opened the store at 14460 New Falls of Neuse Road in 2000, but Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic president, Jay Cummins, says the north Raleigh store had not met expectations for sales and profits.
The location will close on July 9.
The Wakefield Commons store employs 88 people, including 27 part-time workers. Cummins says the affected employees will be offered jobs at Kroger’s other stores in the Triangle region based on their seniority, performance and contract obligations.

“We are proud of the efforts of our associates at this location, but current operating results do not justify keeping it open,” Cummins said in a statement.
The Cincinnati, Ohio-based grocer still has 16 stores in the Triangle region.
Kroger also is remodeling six of its stores in the Triangle and making plans to open four new fuel centers.
