Roland Garros 2011 Official Site: Andy Murray's preparations for the French Open have been hit by an injury scare - but the British No. 1 should still be fit to compete at Roland Garros.

The Scot is believed to have strained his groin in training, prompting him to withdraw from a scheduled exhibition match in Paris on Thursday, although the problem is not thought to be serious.

Murray, the world No. 4, who was set to face France'sMichael Llodra in the Guinot Mary Cohr Masters at theParis Country Club, however he has opted to pull out as a precautionary measure.

A statement from tournament organisers read: "Andy has withdrawn from the Masters Guinot Mary Cohr today as a precaution after sustaining a minor injury whilst training this morning.

"Andy would like to apologise to the fans and sponsors but hopes to play in the Masters Guinot Mary Cohr once again next year."

The 24-year-old will now undergo further treatment at his hotel on Thursday evening ahead of Friday's draw for the second Grand Slam tournament of the year.

While his participation in the tournament is not thought to be in any doubt, the two-time Australian Open finalist could certainly have done without the setback as he bids to end his Grand Slam duck.

His performance at last week's Rome Masters raised hopes of a successful run in the French capital after he gaveNovak Djokovic, who is unbeaten in 2011, the biggest scare the Serb has suffered yet this year, eventually losing in a third set tie-break after failing to serve out for the match.

Murray has also recently had to contend with an elbow problem which he picked up at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he reached the semi-finals before falling to Rafael Nadal in three sets.

And his former coach and current Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith, has predicted a successful tournament in Paris for the Scot.

"In Monte Carlo Andy showed how good he can be on clay," he said. "He really pushed Rafa and took a lot of confidence from that. Last year at the French Open Andy played some really good tennis.

"It would not surprise me if, each year, Andy gets stronger. Remember, he played a lot of clay-court tennis when he was younger and was based in Spain for a couple of years. Clay is a surface he is very much familiar with and it wouldn't surprise me if getting to Monte Carlo early really helped him."
