Reyner Desvando Suhartono: A 28-year-old Indonesian, who is one of the forty-four men charged on Monday with having paid sex with a minor has successfully applied to leave Singapore.

Reyner Desvando Suhartono will go to Jakarta on Friday to prepare for his wedding this June. He has also been given leave in May.

Suhartono, a director of a water treatment company, was accused of paying S$450 to the underage girl for sex in an apartment on September 24, 2010.

His lawyer, Mr Edmond Pereira assured the court that Suhartono will not abscond and return to Singapore as he has "a vested interest here".

Mr Pereira also said his client had returned to Singapore after being allowed to go to Jakarta on a previous occasion in February.

He also surrendered his passport when he returned.

However, Deputy Public Prosecutor Andrew Tan objected to the appeal, saying that Suhartono is a "foreigner, who has little familiar roots in Singapore".

DPP Tan added that there were no family ties to bind Suhartono to the country as neither his immediate family members nor his fiancee were local.

He also challenged Mr Pereira's claim that Suhartono had "vested proprietary interest" here.

He said that Suhartono's company was a relatively young start-up and that Suhartono only had a "minority stake in it".

District Judge Lim Tse Haw acknowledged that Suhartono had left for Indonesia in February and returned.

He then allowed Suhartono to leave for Jakarta on the following conditions, that he provides his travel itinerary and overseas contacts to the authorities before each departure.

In addition, Suhartono has to surrender his passport and report to the authorities within 24 hours on each return.

Suhartono is currently on S$30,000 bail.
