RS Components Singapore
RS Components Singapore: RS Components, the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc( http://www.electrocomponents.com ) (LSE:ECM), the world's leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, have announced that compliance testing has been completed on the first batch of Raspberry Pi, the low-cost credit card sized computer board designed to enable children and IT enthusiasts to develop programming skills. RS Components has also taken delivery of the first batch of Raspberry Pi boards into its warehouse.

The first boards have passed emission testing to Class A standard and comply with the requirements of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) directive EN50081-2 (1993) for the use of information technology equipment (ITE) in industrial or office environments.
Equipment used in a residential environment may be susceptible to radio interference and to ensure that Raspberry Pi customers are fully aware of this, each of the boards will be supplied with a warning statement in accordance with EMC regulations.
Invitations to place an order will be sent out shortly to the first group of customers, in sequence according to the time that they registered their interest in Raspberry Pi on the RS and Allied websites. Due to limited availability of Raspberry Pi at this time, and as part of their delivery promise to customers, RS and Allied are inviting orders only when they can guarantee the allocation of a Raspberry Pi from stock. Orders are currently restricted to one board per customer. This process will be repeated until full production quantities of the boards become available later this year, when customers will be able to order multiple quantities.
Glenn Jarrett, Head of Electronics Marketing at RS, said, "We are delighted to have the first batch of fully compliant products in our warehouse and to be able to invite the first wave of customers who registered for a Raspberry Pi to place their orders from this initial stock. There has been a great deal of anticipation for Raspberry Pi since its launch at the end of February, and it is important that we provide a delivery guarantee to customers when they place their order."
