Meenakshi : A joint team of Mumbai and Allahabad police on Wednesday recovered the torso of the slain Bollywood starlet Meenakshi Thapa from a septic tank in the house of one of the accused Preeti Alvira Surin.

Thapa's brother reached Allahabad on Wednesday and identified the torso on the basis of the jeans and the top. Since the body was dumped in a septic tank, it had not dcomposed much.

A team of Mumbai Police was camping in Allahabad since Tuesday along with the accused Amit Jaiswal and Preeti. The duo had lured Thapa to Gorakhpur with an offer of a modelling assignment, but took her to Allahabad with the promise of introducing her to a Bhojpuri film producer.


Based on the confessions of the two accused, S.K. Yadav, SP (city) Allahabad said that Amit and Preeti originally bought tickets for Gorakhpur on March 13, but changed their minds. Instead, they boarded the Kamayani Express going to Allahabad and travelled in a general compartment. The three reached the Sangam city at 4 pm on March 14. The duo took Meenakshi straight to Preeti's Darbhanga Colony residence, an outhouse of a bungalow of which her father is the caretaker.
