Mariam Pitchai: To put break to jubilant mood and celebrations of the All Indian Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's(AIADMK) historical victory in the elections, the newly sworn Environment Minister Mariam Pitchai was killed in a Road Accident at Samayanallur near Tiruchi this morning.
Mr Mariam Pitchai and another minister for Sports and Youth Welfare came to Tiruchi last night to garland the statue of 'Perumbidugu Mutharaiyar' who was freedom fighter and great leader of the Mutharaiyar Community.
After garlanding the statute this morning at 7am, both the ministers left to Chennai by Tiruchi Collectorates staff cars to attend the swearing in ceremony function of newly elected MLA's.
When the convoy of the ministers reached Padalur near Perambalur, the driver of the Mariam Pitchai's vehicle drove it rashly with a speed of 120 KM and purposefully hit with a moving lorry. In this process the minister who sat in the front seat was crushed to death.
